Ten things you can do right away

  1. Buy locally
  2. Buy in bulk
  3. Switch to safer cleaning products.
  4. Recycle lightbulbs, ink cartridges, paper, office equipment.
  5. Offer incentives to employees for green behaviors (i.e. walking to work, using non-disposable products in the kitchen)
  6. Pick up a book on sustainability from the library, or read one of the articles or books in the bibliography.
  7. Call someone from another museum who has already done a green project.
  8. Get a museum bicycle for small around town errands.
  9. Talk to one person outside of your organization about what you'd like to do.
  10. Post the "Green Design Checklist" on your exhibit department and exhibit shop bulletin board.
